The PA Department of Labor and Industry in their March 2019 report said that the statewide unemployment rate went down one-tenth of a percentage point to a record low of 3.9% in March, which is the lowest it has been since 1976. The number of employed Pennsylvanians went up by 10,000 to a record high of 6,219,000.
The estimated number of non-farm jobs went up by 4000 from February to a record high 6,044,500. The largest volume change was in the area of professional and business services, which was up 2200. Education and health issues and leisure and hospitality both rose to record high job levels as well.
Unemployment levels for the individual counties for the month of March are expected to be released later this month.
