Homer-Center School Board met last night and the board approved the head volleyball coach for the next year, which had been a point of contention with the district.
On the agenda for the meeting was the hiring of Hope Fye as head volleyball coach for the 2019-2020 season, but the board had received a letter that allegedly damaged Fye’s reputation. That letter was not quoted during the meeting, but several members of the community spoke up in support of Fye. In the end, the board voted 5-2 to approve Fye as the head volleyball coach, with Gerald Bertig and James McLoughlin casting “no” votes. Bertig said he wanted more time to consider all the information in the issue.

While McLoughlin did not directly say why he voted no, he did put his support behind Fye.

In other business, the board approved the 2019-2020 ICTC Budget. Homer-Center’s share is $373,860, which represents a 3.77% increase over last year.
