Janet Lavaughn (Gromley) Patterson, 78, of Clymer, PA passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Communities at Indian Haven in Indiana, PA.
The daughter of Murray and Martha (Fleeger) Gromley, she was born on April 23, 1940 in Indiana, PA.
Janet married Lloyd W. Patterson on January 12, 1957.
Some of her favorite hobbies were camping and going horseback riding.
She thoroughly loved spending time with her family and being a part of family gatherings and activities.
Janet is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Lloyd, of Clymer, PA; her two sons: Bill Patterson and wife, Joy of Homer City, PA and Scott Patterson and wife, Kelly of Home, PA; her daughter, Barbara Kester and husband, Chris of Clymer, PA; her son-in-law, Walt Shaffer of Michigan; her seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Also surviving are her sisters: Patricia Helman of Indiana, PA and Velma O’Hara of Ernest, PA and her sisters-in-law, Cheryl Gromley of Clarksburg, PA and Grace Gromley of Indiana, PA.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Vicki Shaffer; three infant children: Debora; Timothy and James; two her brothers: Raymond and Dennis Gromley and her brother-in-law, Jack O’Hara.
Family and friends are welcome to a gathering from 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Morningstar Ministries Fellowship Hall in Starford, PA. Immediately following the gathering, a 6:00 p.m. memorial service will be held at the hall officiated by her niece, Pastor Jackie Greene. A meal will be served at the conclusion of Janet’s memorial service.
Janet was an avid spectator at the Miracle League of Indiana County ball games held in Indiana, PA. The Miracle League is an organization focused on creating rewarding opportunities for disabled children and adults. In lieu of flowers, Janet wished for memorial donations to be forwarded to the Miracle League of Indiana County, in care of the YMCA of Indiana County,
