The State Attorney General’s office has announced insurance fraud charges against 25 individuals, including two from Indiana County.
48-year-old Rico Collins of Blairsville is charged with felony insurance fraud and attempted theft by deception, plus misdemeanor forgery and tampering with evidence for submitting to his insurance agency phony receipts for items he claimed were stolen in a burglary.
38-year-old Victor Robert Velez of White Township is charged with felony insurance fraud and misdemeanor attempt at theft by deception for adding comprehensive insurance coverage to a vehicle for which he only had liability coverage, then falsely claiming that an accident he was involved in had happened after he’d added the additional coverage, when it had occurred before the coverage was added last September.
Both Collins and Velez are free on bond and awaiting preliminary hearings.
