PennDOT continues to gear up for the road construction season, with three projects listed for work on this week’s schedule. Starting tomorrow, the Homer City Route 119 Three Bridges Project resumes with traffic patterns changing between Luzerne Road and Route 56. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction utilizing both the northbound and southbound lanes. The project began in June of 2017 and will finally wrap up in the late fall of this year.
Also this week, bridge replacement projects begin on Route 403 and Allison Road in Green Township. Starting on Tuesday, lane-width restrictions will be in effect and temporary traffic signals will control the flow of traffic on 403, and the nearby bridge on Allison Road will also be replaced and realigned. That work is expected to be done in October.
Finally, Indiana Street in Plumville will be closed starting on Friday between the Plumville fire hall and Corbett Avenue as workers realign the channel of a stream and clear the area around the Plumville #2 bridge. The bridge will be replaced in the 2020 construction schedule. Traffic will be detoured using Railroad Street, Chestnut Street, Corbett Avenue, Locust Street, Adams Avenue, and East Oak Street. The agency says foot traffic will not be detoured as a protected path through the work zone will be maintained for pedestrians. The bridge will be closed through April 30th.
