Second baseman José Peraza smacked a three-run home run as part of a four-run rally for the Cincinnati Reds, and they held on to beat the Pirates, 5-3, in the season opener in Cincinnati Thursday.
Pittsburgh’s Jameson Taillon gave up four runs over six-plus innings to get tagged with the loss. Rich Rodriquez allowed the homer. Jung Ho Kang drove in two runs for the Pirates, who were held to just five hits.
