It’s opening day of the baseball season, with the Pirates taking on the Reds in Cincinnati. Jameson Taillon gets his first opening day start against the Reds’ Luis Castillo. Taillon, the Bucs’ 2010 first round pick (second overall) says he believes the Pirates have what it takes to compete in the NL Central. He was 14-and-10 with a 3.20 ERA last season, including a one-hit shutout of the Reds last April at PNC Park.
The Pirates have not yet announced their final roster moves. Lonnie Chisenhall was hit on the hand by a pitch on Monday and his status is unknown, although the Bucs are hopeful.
The Bucs and Reds not only open the regular season against each other, they will close it against each other in September.
The pregame begins 3:45, with first pitch scheduled at 4:10 on WCCS, AM 1160 and 101.1 FM.
