The Indiana County Sustainable Economic Development Task Force will meet tonight to “create a blueprint” for acting on the recommendations of its final report, which was developed last year after a series of meetings.
The final report published last September lists a series of recommendations for the county to consider in four categories: agriculture, renewable energy, building construction and materials, and environmental restoration and stewardship.
The recommendations include continuing the Task Force with a new mission to further develop the recommendations and help find sources for implementation; creating an Office of Sustainability or similarly-named entity to partner with businesses, agencies, and institutions to implement recommended actions; making the Summit on Sustainable Economic Initiatives an annual event; incorporating the findings of the report into the long-range county economic and workforce development plan; and continuing to support efforts to improve broadband access for all of Indiana County.
Task Force members and active community participants are invited to meet at the Indiana County technology Center tonight at 6:30. If you plan to go, you are urged to RSVP to Sustainability Coordinator Molly Sarver at m.sarver.icopd@gmail.com.
