State police have released their own stats concerning the unsanctioned IUPatty’s day and while the number of criminal arrests went down radically, the number of traffic incidents went up.
Troopers say that between March 21st and 24th, they investigated 517 traffic incidents. 394 traffic citations were written during that time, with 99 written warnings handed out. 17 DUI arrests were made during IUPatty’s weekend, and troopers responded to four calls for motorist help and investigated three crashes. Last year during IUPatty’s, Troopers handed out 299 citations, 91 written warnings, towed 30 vehicles, investigated eight crashes and assisted nine motorists.
As far as criminal arrests go, the number decreased significantly. This year, troopers made 43 arrests, while last year, troopers made 145 arrests. This year, the highest number of arrests was in the underage drinking category at 20. Troopers made eight drug-related arrests, six criminal mischief arrests, four public drunkenness arrests, served three warrants and made two disorderly conduct arrests. Last year, troopers made 44 drug arrests, 40 underage drinking arrests, 21 public drunkenness arrests, 20 DUI arrests, eight misdemeanor/felony arrests, seven disorderly conduct arrests, three criminal mischief arrests and arrested two on warrants
These are only for numbers for cases investigated by state police and do not reflect the overall totals from all agencies working over IUPatty’s weekend.
