As Indiana entered night two of IUPatty’s weekend, reports showed that there were no major incidents, and that seems to be the case so far on Friday night as well.
In a report from Indiana Area Collaborative Team public information officer Michelle Fryling, there were no significant incidents reported in a 24-hour time period starting at 7 AM on March 21st. When we contacted Fryling this morning, she said there were no major incidents to report.
Fryling also reported on the on-campus activity. She said that the concert put on by STATIC at the HUB went off without problems. IUP Police did report an increase in foot and vehicle traffic around campus, with 10 arrests made for drugs and alcohol. Eight of those arrested by IUP Police were students, while two were non-students.
Indiana Borough Police also reported 44 calls for service, which is an increase from last year. Nine people were charged with drug and alcohol offenses. Five of them were students, one of them a non-student resident and the remaining three were non-student visitors.
State police reported 1 DUI arrest, 130 traffic citations, and 38 written warnings issued.
The increase in foot traffic was visible Friday night, especially in the area of The Point on South 7th Street, Wayne Avenue, but no disorderly gatherings were reported.
