The Indiana Area Collaborative Team will have an all-stakeholders meeting this morning at the Kovalchick Complex, to discuss plans for this coming weekend, when the student-led IUPatty’s event is scheduled.
IUPatty’s is a weekend of revelry that students have scheduled for this Thursday through Saturday. In the past, things have gotten wildly out on control with party-goers from throughout the region descending on the Indiana community, but after two shootings that left one person dead in 2017, last year’s event was comparatively calm.
The collaborative team, known as I-ACT, was formed in July of 2014 to “focus on minimizing, countering and responding to disruptive gatherings and behaviors”. Today’s meeting will feature discussion between representatives of at least eighteen stakeholders, including county officials, the law enforcement community, state agencies, and medical, municipal, and university officials. There’s also a student-led group called “IUPLeads”, which will be a key component of I-ACT this weekend.
The meeting is open to anyone, but organizers would appreciate an RSVP at vip-rsvp@iup.edu.
