The St. Louis Blues whipped the Penguins yesterday, 5-1 at PPG Paints Arena. St. Louis jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first period and added two more early in the second as they chased starter Matt Murray from the net with a 4-0 deficit. The listless Penguins could only muster a second-period goal by Dominic Simon. It was his eight goal of the season and first in 21 games.
The Penguins are back on home ice tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers. Pittsburgh continues to skate without Kris Letang, Olli Maatta, Bryan Rust, Zach Aston-Reese, and Chad Ruhwedel. Letang and Rust are practicing with no restrictions but haven’t made their way back into the lineup yet. Maatta is skating separately. Aston-Reese and Ruhwedel are out indefinitely and have not returned to skating yet.
