The IUP Crimson Hawks women’s basketball team defeated Bowie State, 67-60, Friday afternoon in the first game of the NCAA Atlantic Region tournament in Glenville, WV.
The Crimson Hawks finished the game on a 9-1 run to hold off Bowie State.
Five IUP players scored in double figures. Carolyn Appleby scored 19 points to lead IUP. Brittany Robinson and Lauren Wolosik each scored 13 points, and Lexi Griggs and Natalie Myers each scored 11.
IUP will play Virginia Union on Saturday at 4:30 pm on WCCS. Virginia Union beat Edinboro in Game 2, 83-71.
