With the win by the IUP men’s basketball team on Sunday, not only did IUP earn the PSAC Championship, but they also earned the right to host the Men’s NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament at the KCAC. And that could mean a nice uptick in the county’s economy.
Eight teams will take part in the tournament that gets underway in about three days. The teams will play in a single-elimination tournament that will run over the course of the weekend, with games on Saturday, Sunday and then on Tuesday.
Denise Liggett of the Indiana County Tourist Bureau said that they are working hard to make the incoming visiting teams, coaches and fans feel welcome.

Liggett said that with everyone coming in, the economic impact could be big.

Liggett added that during the summer months, when the regional softball tournaments come to the county, a similar financial impact can be seen in the county, if not a larger impact.
The tournament action gets underway at noon on Saturday with the first of four games to be played that day.
