Matt Murray was spectacular in goal but his Penguins teammates didn’t help him defensively or offensively as Columbu scored two goals late in the third period for a 4-1 win. Zach Aston-Reese scored the lone Penguins goal, in the second period to make it a 2-1 game, but the Blue Jackets earned the win with a shutdown defense, gaining a split in the home-and-home series. The Penguins gave up their league-leading 14th short-handed goal of the season.
The Penguins are back on the ice tonight at PPG Paints Arena, hosting the Boston Bruins.
