IUP Professor Susan Boser has announced that she will seek the Democratic Party nod for the State Senate seat vacated by the retirement of Senator Don White last month. Boser teaches public policy at IUP and is a member of the Indiana County Sustainable Economic Development Task Force. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Community Guidance Center.
In announcing her campaign, Bose said, ”When elected, I will propose and support sensible policies that will have a positive impact on our residents. These include affordable broadband access to rural residents, economic growth that provides living-wage jobs, and access to affordable healthcare including proven opioid treatment and emergency services.”
Boser’s entry into the race makes two candidates for the Democratic selection and two for the Republicans. Indiana businessman Tony DiLoreto is the other Democrat. Senator White’s chief of staff, Joe Pittman, and George Karpacs of Center Township are seeking the position for the Republicans. One candidate from each party will be chosen by their respective party leaders to face off in a special election that will be held May 21st, alongside the state’s Primary Election.
