The Penns Manor (2A) and Ligonier Valley (3A) boys’ basketball teams were eliminated from the PIAA playoffs in the first round Saturday.
Penns Manor lost to Serra Catholic, 79-44 on WCCS.
Ligonier Valley fell to Beaver Falls, 84-68, on Cat Country 106.3 FM.
The Purchase Line girls were beaten by Tussey Mountain, 56-38, in Class A first round action. The Red Dragons hung tough with the Titans, trailing by only four with three Tussey Mountain players saddled with four fouls. But the Titans were tough from the foul line, hitting 24 of 28 free throws while Addy Beer and Maddy Scalese fouled out for Purchase Line. Beer and Emeleigh Syster led Purchase Line with ten points each. The Red Dragons finish their season at 14-12 and the District 6 Class A runnerup.
