Indiana School District along with IUP and State Representative Jim Struzzi and the county’s tourist bureau are collaborating on an upcoming school safety and security symposium.
The symposium is set for next Friday, March 15th at the KCAC, and is designed to continue the discussion about school safety and security. The program was developed by Indiana School District Superintendent Michael Vukovich, who wants to see some solutions beyond just more guards, alarms or other physical security systems. Vukovich wants one of the focus areas of the symposium to be on helping to teach children about controlling their emotions and expressing themselves in order to have a healthy and safe life.
Those scheduled to attend the symposium include representatives from IUP, the state office of the Attorney General, Beard Legal Group, State Police, 911 Emergency Operations Center, the Safe2SaySomething program, the state School Boards association, and several other state and local group.
The conference will open with registration at 8:00, and the symposium will start at 8:30. After an opening speech, there will be four breakout sessions held throughout the day.
