An Indiana man now faces charges of resisting arrest and drug paraphernalia possession for an incident on March 2nd in Burrell Township.
Troopers say they were called out around 4:38 AM to perform a welfare check on 24-year-old John Lee Barto at a home on Old Willam Penn Highway in Burrell Township. State Police were also warned that Barto had a BB gun and he threatened to use the gun on any responding police officers.
When troopers got there, Barto was seen walking along the roadway. He ignored the trooper’s command to stop and show his hands, and he started to flee on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Barto was apprehended, and while he resisted arrest, he was successfully taken into custody. Barto was then found to be in possession of the BB gun and some suspected drug paraphernalia.
Along with the resisting arrest and drug paraphernalia charges, Barto also faces charges of disorderly conduct. Charges were filed before District Judge Jennifer Rega.
