While we are one day away from the start of the Lenten Season, the Indiana County YMCA has announced details on their upcoming Good Friday Breakfast.
This year marks the 63rd year that the Good Friday breakfast takes place. For the last few years, it has been hosted by the YMCA at their Gymnasium, and that will be the case again this year. The guest speaker this year is Marilyn Zimmerman, a Punxsutawney native who was the victim of a violent crime back in 1991. Her home was invaded by their daughter’s ex-boyfriend, and both she and her husband, Bob Curry, were restrained and held at gunpoint. He claimed that they were the main reason the daughter did not want to be with him anymore. After several hours, Zimmerman was able to get out, but Curry was not as lucky. Zimmerman now works with the Impact of Crime program in state prisons.
