On Senior Night – and Faith Night – the IUP men beat Seton Hill last night, 72-59, but the women suffered a shocking, 71-59 loss.
For the 2nd-ranked men, Dante Lombardi led the way with 27 points and Cobo Diaz netted 20. Diaz moved into third place in IUP history with 1,683 career points.
IUP’s women have been ranked in the top ten all season long but will likely fall out of the top ten, and will drop in the regional rankings as well. Lauren Wolosik scored 17 for IUP.
The PSAC playoffs are next for both IUP teams. The women earned a first round bye and will host the winner of No. 4 seed Seton Hill and No. 5 seed Pitt-Johnstown. If the Crimson Hawks win, they’ll travel to the Eastern Division’s top remaining seed for PSAC Championship weekend March 9-10. The men also earned a first round bye and home court advantage throughout the tournament, and will host the winner No. 4 seed Pitt-Johnstown and No. 5 seed Gannon.
