More details have been provided about one of two trailer fires that happened within minutes of each other Friday morning.
That fire was for a double-wide trailer on Beltz Road in South Mahoning Township. Fire crews from Plumville, Marion Center, Dayton and Rural Valley were called out at 10:27 by Indiana County 911 along with Citizen’s Ambulance and the Hazmat team. Marion Center Fire Department said in a post on their Facebook page that they believe the cause of the fire was a torch used by the homeowner. The homeowner, who has not been identified, was repairing a pipe underneath the trailer when the torch hit a leaking gas line. The insulation caught fire from there. Fire Marshals were still called in as a precaution. The trailer was completely destroyed.
There is still no word on a second trailer fire that was reported on the other side of the county, in Montgomery Township. That fire was reported at 10:34, just seven minutes after the first call went out. Cherry Tree, Pine Township and Commodore fire departments were called out along with Citizens Ambulance and the Hope Fire Department Rig Team to the trailer fire on Cherry Tree Road.
