The Pirates didn’t pick up a victory yesterday in split-squad action yesterday, but it wasn’t all bad as the Pirates did pick up a tie against one of their opponents.
The Pirates tied with the Toronto Blue Jays 1-1 after nine innings yesterday. Pirates pitcher Rookie Davis had a great outing in his Pirates debut, striking out three batters and walking one while throwing two no-run, no-hit innings. Pirates right fielder Patrick Kivlehan scored the only run for the Bucs on a throwing error.
Meanwhile, Pirates pitcher Nick Kingham gave up five runs and six hits, including two home runs. The Pirates tried to respond back a two run homer from Jacob Stallings and a solo homer from Jerrick Suter.
