State police are continuing their full court press in the drug war, taking down another methamphetamine operation in West Wheatfield Township yesterday afternoon.
In a release this afternoon, police say they acted on information related to suspected meth manufacturing going on at a home at 91 Caroline Street in the village of Robinson. They arrived there shortly before 2 PM and after obtaining consent to a search of the home, they found several items that are used to make meth both inside and outside of the home. The State Police Clandestine Laboratory Response Team was summoned to process the scene and safely collect the materials.
Police say there were two juveniles inside the home while the meth lab was in use. They are investigating two suspects: a 31-year-old woman from Robinson and a 33-year-old man who is listed as being from New Florence. It should be noted that the Borough of New Florence is across the Conemaugh River in Westmoreland County about five miles from Robinson, but many residents of West Wheatfield Township, as distant as the Route 22 corridor also have New Florence addresses.
Neither suspect is publicly identified as no charges have yet been filed. Pending charges include four felonies, for endangering the welfare of children; operating a methamphetamine laboratory and illegal dumping of methamphetamine waste; manufacture of methamphetamine with a person under age 18 present; and manufacturing a controlled substance. Other charges that are being considered are misdemeanor possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia; and possession of pseudoephedrine for methamphetamine manufacture.
Police strongly urge anyone with information on suspected drug activity to contact them at 357-1960 or at the anonymous toll-free 24-hour Drug Trafficking Tip Line at 1-877-PA-NODRUGS.
