It’s a busy schedule today for Indiana County Court, with Plea Court, non-jury trials, a sentencing, and a hearing for a petition for post-conviction collateral relief.
28-year-old Torrance Hawkins Jr. of Youngstown, Ohio is asking the court for release from SCI Pine Grove after being sentenced in 2017 to three to eight years for a firearms violation in an armed robbery at an apartment along Locust Street in Indiana in December of 2014. Hawkins was one of four men who broke into the apartment and held a man and woman at gunpoint while they robbed them. During the incident, one of the guns went off, but no one was hit.
Also in county court today, 29-year-old Brittany Vareha of Allison Park, Allegheny County, will be sentenced for a guilty plea to theft. She stole a pickup truck last November as it sat at a gas pump at the 4th Street Sheetz in Indiana, and as the owner tried to stop her from driving away, he was struck by the vehicle’s running board.
There are non-jury trials for two defendants accused of contempt for violating a court order. 26-year-old Jesse Ray Marsh of Josephine will face four such trials, and 28-year-old Corey Pandullo of Indiana will have one.
Among the Plea Court proceedings, 27-year-old Madison Bruner of Indiana will plead in a case in which she is charged with sixteen offenses, including forgery, theft, receiving stolen property, and two drug violations. Bruner will also plead in a separate theft case, and a separate drug case.
26-year-old Carrie Ann Aukerman of Indiana will plead in three drug cases, all for misdemeanor possession.
22-year-old Olivia DePaul of Indiana will enter a plea today to conspiracy in a drug case.
