The IUP basketball teams returned to action at the KCAC last night with victories over the Clarion Golden Eagles.
The women secured a first-round bye in next month’s PSAC Tournament with a 79-62 win. Carolyn Appleby and Lexi Griggs each scored 24 points to lead the way, while Brittany Robinson tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Hawks shot 59 percent in pushing their record to 22-1.
The men also had a hot shooting night at 56 percent in an 82-61 win, hiking their record to 23-2 . Dante Lombardi scored 21 points and dished out nine assists, while Cobo Diaz tallied 20 points with eight rebounds. Malik Miller was also in double figures with 15 points.
The Crimson Hawks travel to California for a doubleheader Saturday afternoon with the twin bill to be heard on U92.5 FM and U92radio.com at 12:45 p.m.
