The Homer-Center School Board met last night and discussed a survey that’s now on the district’s website.
The survey concerns the start times and dates for the district. Last year, the board and administration slightly altered the traditional start and end times, making them 12 minutes later. The board also altered the start and end dates for the school year, making the start date earlier. Board president Michael Bertig said that they want to gauge the district’s feelings on those changes.

In other business, the board accepted with regret the retirement of Dr. Ruth Yatzkanic, who taught at the district for 18 years. She taught many different classes from driver’s ed to health class to the sixth grade in the elementary school. Bertig called her a “highly versatile” teacher.
