Tonight, the parents of a Penn State student who died in a fraternity hazing incident will speak to the community about the death of their son and their mission to help foster change on college campuses.
Jim and Evelyn Piazza, the parents of Timothy Piazza, will speak tonight at 7:30 at IUP’s Fisher Auditorium. The program is open to the public, and is being sponsored by the university’s Interfraternity Council, the Panhellenic Association and the office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. The Piazzas will be joined by other parents who have been touched by similar incidents who are part of partnerships to focus on strengthening state anti-hazing laws and expanding education and training for high school and college students. The anti-hazing coalition is also looking to engage fraternity and sorority members in educating high school students about the dangers of hazing and bullying.
