The IUP basketball teams completed a sweep of a PSAC West doubleheader last night, topping UPJ at the Sports Center in Johnstown.
The women forced 23 turnovers and held UPJ to 22 percent shooting in a 57-35 win. The win improves their record to 21-1 and 16-1 in the division.
Carolyn Appleby moved into third place on the all-time list with 21 points. Appelby trails only Hall of Famer Cathy Torchia and Hall of Famer-to-be Jahzinga Tracey.
The men registered their 22nd win in 24 outings with an 80-67 victory. Trailing 54-49 ,the Crimson Hawks ran off 10 unanswered points. The defense forced 23 turnovers and had 17 steals. The team was out rebounded, 36 to 28. Cobo Diaz tallied 23 points while Dante Lombardi tacked on 22 points and Armoni Foster bagged 14 off the bench.
The Hawks maintained their one game lead in the division.
The teams are off Saturday and will next play at home with Clarion next Wednesday.
