The Indiana School Board met last night and approved a contract with an outside organization to review transportation proposals.
At last night’s meeting, Terry Kerr, the chairman of the Buildings/Grounds and Transportation Committee talked about what the PA School Business Officials will take a look at the five contracts that have come in for the district’s busing. Kerr added that this is standard operating procedure as the contract with the district’s current transportation provider is set to run out soon.
In other business, the board also got the chance to meet several international teachers who are learning about education in the United States. Eighteen teachers from seven countries are taking part in the Fulbright DAI program, which is being run through IUP. The teachers are taking classes at IUP, observing and helping out once a week for several weeks at Indiana High School. After a few weeks, the international teachers will move on to an urban school experience. The teachers this year are from several African countries along with Mexico, Singapore and Indonesia.
