Thomas E. Gerber, 86, of Creekside, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at St. Andrew’s Village.
A son of the late William Henry and Geraldine Griffith Gerber, he was born May 4, 1932, in Ernest.
Mr. Gerber was a graduate of Indiana High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a self-employed plumber and for 50 years he operated the Ernest water system. Mr. Gerber was a member of the Indiana American Legion 141. He loved woodworking, camping, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley L. Cornman Gerber, of Creekside; a daughter, Linda Bara and husband, Rick “Buck”, of Ernest; two sons: Tommy Gerber, of Chambersville; and Jimmy Gerber, of Arizona; a brother, Robert “Bud” Gerber and wife Mary, of Sigel; a sister, Donna Giannetto, of Apollo; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Gerber; a brother, William Gerber and wife Anna; sister, Dorothy George and husband Bill; two grandchildren, Diserra Bara and Robert Gerber; and a brother-in-law, Tony Giannetto.
At the request of Mr. Gerber, there will be no visitation. Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Robinson-Lytle, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
