In a Facebook post, the Indiana Fire Association called yesterday a “day of recovery” after answering four calls on Saturday. Their fellow firefighters continued a very busy weekend.
Indiana and Elderton firefighters were summoned Saturday for a structure fire along Hickory Road in Armstrong Township. A 20-by-40-foot outbuilding behind a private home was completely destroyed. Later that morning, Indiana firefighters were dispatched to the fatal accident on Route 286 east of Indiana. Later that afternoon, they were summoned for a carbon monoxide alarm along Stone Ridge Road in White Township. Then shortly before 9:30 PM, Indiana was sent to join the Plumville fire company and their colleagues from Armstrong County for the commercial structure fire along Kimmel Road in Plumcreek Township. They were on scene for three hours.
In all, Indiana volunteer firefighters spent more than nine hours in action. Their day began at 3:38 AM Saturday and ended at 1 AM Sunday.
Armagh, Tunnelton, Plumville, and Marion Center firefighters also saw action Saturday, and some of them were back to work yesterday.
Clyde firefighters were dispatched yesterday afternoon for a tree down on utility lines along Climax Road in West Wheatfield Township. Armagh responded to an accident last evening on Route 22 in East Wheatfield Township. Clymer went to an accident on Route 286 in Rayne Township, and Coral-Graceton was dispatched for a vehicle fire on Luciusboro Road in Center Township.
