State police in Indiana are investigating a case of identity theft in Montgomery Township. It happened Thursday night. Police say that an unknown individual posing as a Verizon fraud employee contacted a 42-year-old man who lives along Wilgus Road in Hillsdale and took his personal information. The suspect then tried to use the information to purchase a cell phone and a tablet.
A Cambria County man is facing theft charges after being caught yesterday shortly before noon in the act of stealing an envelope out of the mailbox of a 35-year-old Indiana man who lives along Merry Place in White Township. The victim is not publicly identified. The suspect is 22-year-old Matthew Garrot Johns. He was processed and released and charges are pending.
