In college basketball, Mercyhurst’s Trystan Pratapas hit a 3-pointer from the corner with .4 seconds left to give the Lakers a 64-63 win over the IUP men, handing the Crimson Hawks their second loss of the season. For IUP, Malik Miller scored a game-high 20 points while Cobo Diaz had 19 and Dante Lombardi added 12.
Diaz grabbed his 1,000th career rebound, becoming the second player in program history, after Darryl Web, to record 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds. He’s among 10 active players from across all NCAA divisions with those numbers, including just two from Division II. With his second assist of the night, Lombardi became IUP’s all-time leader passing Devante Chance with 513. He finished with seven assists and now has 517 for his career.
The IUP women trounced the Lakers’ woman, 81-56 as Carolyn Appleby scored 19 points and Brittany Robinson scored 16. IUP’s win, coupled with California’s loss earlier in the day, pushed the Crimson Hawks back into first place in the PSAC West standings.
