The eyes of the world fell this morning on Punxsutawney in nearby Jefferson County this morning as Groundhog Day celebrations were held at Gobbler’s Knob.
Around 7:30 AM, just after dawn, Phil gave his prediction to members of the Groundhog Club Inner Circle. The official proclamation was read by Jeff Lundy, Vice President of the Groundhog Club Inner Circle.

This marks the 19th time that Phil has predicted an early spring according to records. This year’s trek was the 133rd time that the Inner Circle made its way to Gobbler’s Knob for Groundhog Day, a tradition that goes back to the 1880’s.
