State police have arrested a Shelocta man on charges of domestic violence and marijuana growing.
Police say that the incident happened on January 19th at a home in the 1000 block of Route 156 in Shelocta borough. Around 4:00 in the afternoon, 52-year-old Scott Ryan Wilson allegedly attacked a 55-year-old Shelocta woman by striking her with his hand and choking her, resulting in minor injuries. Troopers went out there with an arrest warrant on January 31st for charges of strangulation, simple assault, and harassment, and he was taken into custody without incident.
During their investigation, police saw in plain sight a silver metal grinder and a tin underneath the grinder containing suspected marijuana, along with a package of rolling papers and a glass smoking pipe. Troopers also saw in plain sight a rolled up plastic bag of suspected processed marijuana and two fresh non-processed buds of marijuana. Troopers were able to get a search warrant for the house and later in the day, troopers found 82 marijuana plants on the second floor of the home, 13 one-gallon bags full of marijuana, two light fixtures and a large bag of cut marijuana clippings. State police called in the Clandestine Laboratory Response Team to continue to process the evidence.
On top of the domestic violence charges, Wilson now faces two counts of manufacture of a controlled substance, and one count each of possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use. Wilson was arraigned on the domestic violence charges and released on $5000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for February 13th in front of District Judge Jennifer Rega.
