State police have charged two Derry Township men with stealing all terrain vehicles and dirt bikes over the last month. The case broke when one of the victims of a theft was waiting for police to arrive and he saw his stolen ATV being driven right past his house in the Blairsville area.
20-year-old Seth McIntire and 24-year-old Cody Stiffey were taken into custody on Tuesday. They’re accused of stealing a dirt bike from one home, an ATV from another, and a UTV from yet another. They’re suspects in the investigation of another motorcycle theft.
Police say that on January 10th, a man waiting for their arrival saw his ATV and another being ridden past his house headed for Route 22. He followed but eventually lost the trail on 22. However, information he provided led police to a home along Stone Jug Road, near the Keystone Raceway. As the investigation developed, police allege that McIntire made incriminating statements and soon they had enough evidence to arrest him and Stiffey. They found pieces and parts of machines in a barn at the McIntire home and more evidence at a vacant garage in the village of Byrd’s Crossing.
McIntire is charged with eighteen felony offenses: for burglary, receiving stolen property, altering a vehicle’s VIN number, and disposition of a vehicle with an altered VIN. Stiffey is charged with sixteen of the same offenses.
Both men are free on $10,000 bond.
