State police were summoned Saturday morning to the Burrell Township Walmart for a retail theft investigation, and wound up investigating a methamphetamine operation and arresting four people.
Walmart personnel called the police for a retail theft in progress at 9 AM, and when they got there, troopers found the suspects’ vehicle in the parking lot, and inside they found the stolen items, along with items used in the manufacture of meth, including Coleman camp fuel, lithium batteries, granulized Drano (which contains lye), the cold medication Sudafed, and paraphernalia such as scales, syringes, and even drugs packaged for sale. In the trunk of the vehicle, they found two suspected “one pot” meth labs.
The State Police Clandestine Laboratory Response Team was dispatched to process the crime scene.
Police took into custody four suspects: 26-year-old Kayla Rhitz and 30-year-old Aaron Wisner of Bolivar, 36-year-old Amy Hillegas of Seward, and 36-year-old Chad Cahill of Armagh. All were placed in the Indiana County Jail to await arraignment. Police have not detailed the charges against each.
