State Police have not classified a fire Friday night at a West Mahoning Township carpentry shop as arson, but they have said it was incendiary in nature, and ”was set on the interior of the structure”. No one was hurt in the blaze, which caused $50,000 damage and destroyed the building along Stephenson Road, which was owned by 25-year-old Roman Byler of Smicksburg. There were no injuries in the four-alarm fire. The state police fire marshal based in Ridgway is investigating and asks anyone with information on the fire to contact him at 814-776-6136.
Fire crews have been busy this weekend:
Pine Township, Cherryhill Township, Clymer, and Nicktown were dispatched for a structure fire last evening on Parave Lane in Pine Township.
Armagh, Clyde, and Blairsville were sent early this morning to join other fire companies from Westmoreland County to battle a blaze on 7th Street in New Florence.
