A week after a challenger announced her candidacy for judge in Indiana County’s Magisterial District Court in Blairsville, incumbent Judge Jennifer Johnston Rega has announced her candidacy for a fourth term.
Rega lives in Blairsville. She was first elected to the seat in 2001, taking office the following January. In addition to her position as a district judge, Rega teaches for the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission, through IUP’s Criminal Justice Training Center. She has also been a member of the Criminal Justice Advisory Board since its inception in Indiana County. She is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the Dickinson School of Law at Penn State.
As we reported last week, Angelina Ashbaugh of Saltsburg has announced her candidacy for the seat, which covers Armagh, Blairsville, and Saltsburg boroughs and the townships of Blacklick, Burrell, Conemaugh, East Wheatfield, West Wheatfield, and Young.
Both Rega and Ashbaugh will file on both the Democrat and Republican ballots in the spring primary election.
