State Representative Jim Struzzi has been appointed to serve on four committees for the 2019-2020 legislative session.
Struzzi, just sworn in to his first term in office, will serve on the House Appropriations, Human Services, Insurance and Urban Affairs committees.
The House Appropriations Committee works on the state budget, oversee state government spending, and update fiscal policies.
The House Human Services Committee has oversight within the department of Human Services and the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs. Among the issues they deal with is the heroin and opioid overdose crisis, something that Struzzi has been personally touched by.
The House Insurance Committee oversees the insurance department and deals with insurance-related legislation that may come to the state at this time.
The final committee, Urban Affairs, will focus on housing, urban redevelopment, economic development and other related issues.
Struzzi said he was happy with his assignments and said it’s now time to get to work.
