State police have issued a number of accident reports that occurred in the last several days. Two of them happened yesterday, and two others on Wednesday, and all four of the wrecks were on Route 22.
The first accident was on Wednesday morning at 8:41 AM. Police say a vehicle left Route 22 in East Wheatfield Township, taking out a PennDOT roadway marker and a mail box. The driver fled the scene without reporting the crash and police ask anyone with information to call them at 357-1960.
The second crash occurred just before 6:30 PM on Wednesday on Route 22 near Resort Plaza Drive in Burrell Township. Police say 59-year-old Dennis Hunt of Blairsville became distracted looking at a restaurant and could not react quickly enough when he looked back to the highway and collided with the rear end of a pickup truck operated by 41-year-old Matthew Davis of Dawson, PA. Hunt suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Indiana Regional Medical Center.
State police say 39-year-old Christopher Allen of Pittsburgh escaped injury yesterday morning when his vehicle spun out on slippery Route 22 in East Wheatfield Township, striking the concrete lane barrier.
And police have not named the driver in a single-vehicle crash at 4:30 yesterday afternoon on Route 22 in West Wheatfield Township. The vehicle spun out in the snow and slush, coming to rest near the barrier. No one was hurt and the vehicle sustained only minor damage, but the driver was unnerved enough to request that the vehicle be towed from the scene.
