Helen Evelyn Jack, 95, of Creekside, passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, at her home.
A daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Byers Ondo, Sr., she was born June 5, 1923, in Indiana.
Mrs. Jack was retired from Fisher Scientific, where she was a production specialist. During World War II, she worked at the Ammunition Factory in White Township making hand grenades. Most recently, she was an office manager for her son, Dr. Jonathan Jack. Mrs. Jack was a member of the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, knitting, reading her Bible, and contributing to the Bible League, for underprivileged people.
She is survived by five children: William E. Jack, of Creekside; Luther James Jack and wife Rose Jean, of Indiana; Earl G. Jack, of Creekside; David Lee Jack, of Shelocta; and Dr. Jonathan Elliotte Jack, of Creekside; a family friend, Vic Farrow, of Trafford; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Jack; eight brothers: John Ondo, Andy Ondo, Paul Ondo, Mike Ondo, Joe Ondo, Steve Ondo, George Ondo and baby brother, Little Paulie; three sisters: Veronica Davis, Elizabeth Smith and Ann Kolesar.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, 625 Knox Street, Indiana, PA 15701, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with Pastor Stanford A. Webb, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
