Lloyd Allen Abel, 75, of Black Lick, PA passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
The son of George H. and Ella Ethel (Learn) Abel, he was born August 14, 1943 in Indiana, PA.
Mr. Abel was a member of the Black Lick United Methodist and a member of the Black Volunteer Fire Department for 45 years.
Prior to his retirement in 2008, he was employed by Specialty Bar Products Company, Blairsville, for 40 years.
He enjoyed reading and spending time watching his grandson, Hunter’s sports.
Surviving are his wife, of 55 years, Carol M. (Clawson) Abel whom he married November 30, 1963; a daughter, Lisa Ann Kunkle (Ray) of Indiana and a son, Marc A. Abel of Washington, DC; a grandson, Hunter Timothy Lee Kunkle; two brothers, George A. Abel (Diane Smith) of New Bethlehem and Alvie Abel (Jean) of Homer City and a sister, Dorothy Elrick (Kenneth) of Waynesboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 P.M. Saturday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Dawn Krishart officiating.
Interment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, West Wheatfield Twp., PA.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Black Lick Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 415 Black Lick, PA 15716 in memory of Lloyd.
