The Pittsburgh Penguins are hot, coming off the Christmas break with another win last night, 5-2, over Detroit. Phil Kessel scored a pair of power-play goals, Derick Brassard also found the net twice and Patric Hornqvist also scored as the Pens won their fourth in a row.
Penguins winger Jake Guentzel has agreed to a five-year, $30 million contract extension that will take effect next year. The 24-year-old has 15 goals and 18 assists in 36 games this season for Pittsburgh.
The Pens visit St. Louis tomorrow.
