The Indiana County Commissioners approved their budget for 2019 with no tax increases, and some changes to the one that was presented in November.
One thing that has not changed is the fact that the real estate tax will remain the same at 4.445 mills. But County Commissioners Chairman Mike Baker said that they were able to save a bit more when it came to expenditures.

In other business, the Commissioners approved Jennifer Eckels to the “Education Seat” on the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board. Eckles is the director of the Indiana-Westmoreland County Community College Center. This is part of an effort for Westmoreland County Community College, IUP and the Indiana County Technology Center have a representative in that seat on a rotating basis.
The Commissioners also approved an agreement to house federal inmates at the Indiana County Jail at a cost of $78 a day, and as part of that effort, the commissioners authorized the purchase of a new Ford Transit van for use at the jail.
