Just a few stops into a tour of all the State System of Higher Education colleges and universities, new Chancellor Dan Greenstein says there is one constant concern being brought up by students.
In his blog, Greenstein says that the topic that comes up the most often when he talks with students is students who start school but don’t graduate. Greenstein said that across the State System, on average, more than two in five students who start a degree program don’t graduate. Some of the reasons are the costs of education, the academic challenges, and the socio-cultural challenges that students face.
Enrollment continues to decline at many of the State System schools, including IUP. Greenstein said that the System is not “enjoying the kind of support that’s available to higher education in all but three or four states.” But he added that he wants to focus on students.
Chancellor Greenstein will visit IUP on Friday, and will hold an open forum for the Indiana and IUP communities at 1:30 at the KCAC.
