A New Alexandria man yesterday pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide for a crash that took the life of a Blairsville woman two years ago in Derry Township, Westmoreland County.
The accident took place on October 17th, 2016 on Route 982 near Laughlin Farm Road. State police said 22-year-old Samuel Robert Grace was driving at 70 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone when he crossed the center line and collided with a car driven by 71-year-old Harriet Malloy. She was extricated from the wreckage and flown to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh, where she died. Her 9-month-old great granddaughter, riding in a rear car seat, was uninjured.
In addition to vehicular homicide, Grace pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment and driving at an unsafe speed. He is scheduled for sentencing in December before Westmoreland County Judge Christopher Feliciani.
