Quick action by fire crews resulted in a very quick knockdown of a fire in Burrell Township Sunday afternoon.
Indiana County 911 made the initial call at 5:58 PM and dispatched Blairsville, Blacklick, Coral-Graceton, Homer City and Derry Township Fire Departments for the fire on South Liberty Street. Blairsville Fire Chief Turk Burkley said that the fire was knocked down quickly and there were no injuries and no structural damage was reported. Chief Burkley said the fire was electrical in nature, and started in a basement dryer. The fire was contained to the basement.
Blairsville fire crews were on the scene for about a half-hour to 45-minutes after they arrived, while many of the other fire departments were sent back to their respective stations.
