State police have charged an Indiana Man with assault, harassment and theft in a series of incidents in White Township.
Troopers say that they were called out on September 18th to IPA motors at 9:00 AM for the reported burglary. Surveillance video showed that the suspect, later identified as 46-year-old Harold Lee Filler, Jr. of Indiana, broke a window and entered the offices of the dealership, and took a lock box, cash, vehicle keys and gift cards. After exiting the building, Filler allegedly tried to steal two cars.
Police believe that Filler was also behind a burglary at Renaissance Stylists on Oakland Avenue. Filler allegedly forced his way into the salon through the back door and took $300 from the cash register and went out the way he came in.
After that, Filler fled the scene going to the home of a 34-year-old Indiana woman on South Third Street, and it is believed that he assaulted the woman. Police said they felt he was there because there were some articles of clothing, money and wet boots left there that were seen in the surveillance video. Additionally, a stolen vehicle key was found there, and it was shown to belong to one of the cars at the dealership.
In connection with the burglaries, Filler faces a combined four counts of theft by unlawful taking, two counts of attempted theft, burglary, trespass and criminal mischief. He also faces charges of felony strangulation, misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment in connection with the domestic assault. He was arraigned on September 18th and was placed in Indiana County Jail in lieu of a combined $55,000 cash bail. Preliminary hearings will be held on October 3rd.
